Paws and Smiles: PAT Dogs Bring Joy to The Cottage

There’s a special kind of magic that walks through the doors of The Cottage — four paws at a time. We’re thrilled to share that our residents have been enjoying regular visits from some very special guests: PAT (Pets As Therapy) dogs!

These gentle, friendly therapy dogs have quickly become beloved visitors at our home, bringing comfort, companionship, and plenty of tail wags. Each visit is met with wide smiles and warm laughter as residents connect with the dogs.

For many of our residents, time spent with animals evokes fond memories of their own beloved pets. The simple act of stroking a dog’s fur or sharing a quiet moment of connection has proven to lift spirits, reduce stress, and encourage conversation among residents.

The PAT programme is designed to promote wellbeing through animal companionship, and we’re proud to be part of a growing number of care homes embracing this kind of meaningful interaction. 

At The Cottage, we’re always looking for ways to enrich the lives of our residents — and with the help of our furry friends, we’ve found a beautiful, therapeutic way to do just that.
